Occupational Therapy Baking Groups

The therapeutic value of engaging in the activity of baking offers a person valued occupation(s) that can bring meaning and purpose to their lives.  And can help a person to improve confidence, self-esteem, mood, social skills and can be incorporated as part of a holistic rehabilitation or maintenance package.  

Baking

The therapist will facilitate the group and assess for cognitive, physical and social difficulties and grade the activities to suit the client’s needs, for example simplifying instructions or tasks.  The group can also incorporate any wider goals set by the client for example improving social skills, coping with stress, anger management, improve concentration etc.

Baking Class

The group sessions are  being run weekly and are for two hours.

Capacity for the group is set at 6 people and support workers are invited along. 

 

Occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals are also invited to come along to assess their clients. 

Participants must have good upper body movement; the group is also suitable for wheelchair users. 

Attendees must also be over the age of 16 years old.
